My daughter is in school in Kansas City, and this issue has happened quite frequently lately. I will give you below the last date this has happened, but this has went on since we got the car in 2008. The 2005 Cobalt needs to be recalled and any other year of Cobalt having this issue. This is a very dangerous thing and Chevrolet/GM just cannot seem to fix this issue or even find anything wrong. Even though all the recalls have been taken care of, while in motion, at any time and any speed, the dash lights starts flashing and you get the message power steering on message center, tc light comes on, light that shows padlock symbol comes on, RPM needle jumps up and down, steering wheel locks up, motor surges and shakes, and you hear all types of clicking sounds below gear shifter. Please research any car complaint websites about this certain vehicle. This issue seems to be a common problem with the 2005 Cobalt. The power stering also flashes on the dash and sometimes cuts compleatly out. Agian the normal lasts anywhere between a few hours to a few months as well. After anywhere between a few hours to a few weeks the vehicle will stop acting up and drive normal for a while. I have even had the car shut off completly while I was driving down the road. The transmission will surge as I am driving and I cannot go faster than 30mph. This has happened several times before and eventually the vehicle will start and when it does the battery light stays on and the dash reads engine performance low. Non of the electronics were working so I was unable to pop my trunk. The speedometer read 30mph even though the vehicle never started and wasn't moving. Go to turn the key off and pop my trunk where the battery is located and I can not get my key to turn all the way back to the off position, as a result I cannot remove my key. Like the battery was dead, wouldn't even try to turn over. Find out more about our advertising opportunities.Vehicle wouldn't start. But i still do not have the $500!! Or the fabric fixed: or the CD player fixed. GM has removed the dealership in question from their sales within the last year. Complaints to GM and the dealership has fallen on deaf ears. They doctored the original sales receipt after the sale, refused to give me a copy of the doctored sales record then told me a week later all documents have been shreaded because they get rid of all records of sales within a few month of people buying cars. The dealership that sold me the car still refuses to give me the rebate cheque for $500 that head office (confirmed) mailed to my dealer for me: citing that they miscounted the $ when i paid for my car so i still owed on my car. So its 2010 and iv been driving with NO CD PLAYER working for 5 years!!! Whats there to do? By the time they had a solution for the fabric: i was told my waranty was expired (my km were over) and they no longer have to fix anything under waranty. GM REPLACED THE CD PLAYER, ONLY TO HAVE IT DIE AGAIN WITHIN A FEW MONTHS! I was told it could be replaced while they fix the interior door handles (fabric was cut too small), but they did not have a solution for the fabric. ![]()
