12/14/2023 0 Comments Waltonchain vs iota reddit![]() If I had to lay a wager, I'd bet that IOTA is going to become the superior system for machine-2-machine IOT, but Walton will dominate supply-chain solutions in Asia. Sharding and Plasma/child-chains can be combined to greatly increase TPS (Transactions Per Second). Within the Ethereum universe, "Plasma" is the term for a protocol related to child chains, which can offload transactions. Sharding is splitting the main blockchain into several interlocking chains that settle at regular intervals. and if I'm wrong about that somebody please let me know! ![]() They should also be able to integrate upgrades from Ethereum (Casper, sharding etc) since they are a fork of Ethereum. Walton will meanwhile be scaling via child-chains. In theory they will get to thousands/millions but that will take time. They hope to be up to 100 by the end of the year. Note that IOTA is currently only running at 10 TPS. Walton says they are going with Proof of Work blockchain because it's more tested and proven than DAGs regarding security. (If I'm wrong about that I'd love to know.)įor smart cities, it's even more interesting as both Walton and IOTA have announced partnerships with cities. ![]() They will offer smart contract solutions sooner than IOTA or any other DAG. Meanwhile, Walton has already gone live with their mainchain, ready for smart contracts since they forked Ethereum. They plan to via the "Qubit" protocol, but all that is still at the theory/visioning/math stage. My understanding is that IOTA won't offer smart contracts for months or possibly a couple years. Ask for a mod in Slack and we can fix it immediately.
